NOVA Certifies MagTek’s Excella Check Scanner for Electronic Check Solution offered to Multi-Lane Retailers
By Holly Lytle
Atlanta, GA and Carson, CA - 15 January 2007 - NOVA Information Systems (NOVA), a wholly owned subsidiary of U.S. Bancorp (NYSE: USB) has certified and is currently deploying MagTek’s Excella Check Scanner as the cornerstone hardware component for their Electronic Check Solution (ECS) for multi-lane retailers, employing back-office image uploads.
The Excella, a multi-document scanner and imaging device, is offered as part of NOVA’s Electronic Check Solution. With ECS, retailers use existing in-lane MICR technology to perform real-time financial authorizations, mitigating check acceptance risk and improving cash flow. MagTek’s Excella is used to upload batches of checks at the end of the day, joining the check image with the original transaction detail, and eliminating the need for monetary back office reconciliation to point-of-sale activity.
Excella automatically processes up to 70 checks per batch while endorsing, reading MICR data and scanning the front and the back of the check in a single pass. Additionally, Excella reads E13B and CMC7 MICR fonts, supports a programmable endorsement message and produces high-quality images at 200 dpi in grayscale or black & white.
“Excella is a core component of our ECS solution for multi-lane retailers,” said Amy Gutierrez, Vice President, Strategic Business Development, NOVA. "Its imaging speed, combined with its efficient handling of check batches, facilitates fast and accurate image uploads for our customers.”
"NOVA has a powerful check imaging solution that will enable merchants to process checks electronically, and that is a win-win for all parties,” said John Arato, Vice President, Retail Products at MagTek, Inc. "We are excited about the opportunity that NOVA's Electronic Check Solution represents for our industry and the merchants who want to take advantage of back office imaging."
