Virgin Atlantic case study | Elavon (SPEECH) [00:00:00.00] [UPBEAT MUSIC] (DESCRIPTION) [00:00:00.02] Virgin Atlantic airplane with red engines flies above ocean and clouds in bright blue sky. A flight attendant opens one of the windows, the Virgin Airline pin on a red flight attendant jacket. (SPEECH) [00:00:05.45] Virgin (DESCRIPTION) [00:00:05.45] A woman with blonde hair sits beside a table and speaks. Text: Keli Sandéman, Payments Strategy Manager, Virgin Atlantic. (SPEECH) [00:00:05.78] Atlantic is a premium airline. We have currently about 8,500 employees. We fly to 30 destinations across four continents. Virgin were looking around to introduce a multi-acquirer strategy. So we needed somebody that we could trust, somebody that had expertise in that airline space. So we looked to our peer group and our partners. [00:00:25.20] And we already knew that Elavon were a valued partner of Delta, so it made sense for us to be introduced to them to see if they could support our needs as well. What was important with us is somebody that had the experience within the airline verticals, that had other customer base already in that field, having a dedicated team. (DESCRIPTION) [00:00:44.55] A woman checks in at the airport and shows her phone to get into the Virgin Atlantic Lounge where a bartender gives her a drink. (SPEECH) [00:00:45.17] Virgin Atlantic has quite a complex technical setup. We transact through multiple channels across multiple business entities. So we need a partner who can understand the complexities of that and support us in those needs when we need it as well. We have no problem with going to Elavon with requests, knowing that we may change our requirements further down that journey. [00:01:08.19] Elavon, first of all, is a really long-standing financial organization. They have longevity in the market. They have stability. Knowing (DESCRIPTION) [00:01:15.07] Virgin Atlantic employees enter their office building. (SPEECH) [00:01:15.42] that we are working with a secure partner is essential. Elavon have a really strong name in the acquiring market. They have a phenomenal track record in airlines. And knowing that they were backed by US Bank just gave us complete peace of mind. [00:01:29.85] We're a very, very compliant business. We need to know that we are following the right rules and regulations. So having a partner that understands those and can support us in making sure that we tick all the right boxes is absolutely key. Normally, the implementation of a contract is actually the most painful part. [00:01:48.16] But (DESCRIPTION) [00:01:48.16] Two people work together on a computer. (SPEECH) [00:01:48.21] I have to say with Elavon, that was absolutely not the case. So from signing to go live, we did that within about a month. And that included working with some of our existing technology payment partners, as well as Elavon integrating into some of our other partners that they didn't have. (DESCRIPTION) [00:02:03.23] A person with short hair and a red lanyard looks at six computer monitors showing weather maps schedules emails and navigation data. Another hand points at a screen. (SPEECH) [00:02:03.57] We process in many, many currencies, but we don't actually have expenses or need to be settled in some of those currencies. So we work with the team to work out where we want to be settled, like for like, and we have everything settled back into a base currency, which removes the need for our finance team to have to do any FX movements. [00:02:21.17] We need a partner that also operates 24/7 as well and doesn't let us down. We operate around the globe. We operate via multiple channels. We have direct and indirect customers as well. So we need to be sure that they can pay for their flight, their bag, their upgrade whenever they want to. And with Elavon, we know that service is always available. (DESCRIPTION) [00:02:43.62] A woman aboard a Virgin Atlanta flight works at her computer in first class. (SPEECH) [00:02:43.94] We will continue to work closely with the US Bank and their wider teams to ensure that whatever we do is best in class. (DESCRIPTION) [00:02:51.79] A flight attendant serves the client a plate of food on the airplane. (SPEECH) [00:02:52.10] We are about to look to additional product sets that we can take on through them as well. Our relationship with Elavon is going from strength to strength, and I can only see that growing as they get to know us more and more.
