President, KooKoo Bear Kids
Elavon Customer for 6 Years
Her Elavon Solutions:
I started KooKoo Bear Kids about 11 years ago when I moved to Roswell, Georgia, and found a void in the market. I had three little boys at the time, two years apart. And I just couldn't find any baby artwork, lighting, bedding… Everything was big box; I couldn’t find anything in the small boutique department. So, I started KooKoo Bear Kids.
I always wanted to be in retail. I studied retail management in college. I knew that's what I wanted to do. Once I started with Saks, I moved to the Manhattan store, into the buying offices. After that, I went to Seventh Avenue and worked for a dress designer for five years.
My husband got transferred to Atlanta and I stayed home with three kids. That's when I decided to start KooKoo Bear Kids. I really missed retail.
I love doing what I do, even after 12 years. I have a passion for bringing the best product to the market, and displaying it in a way that most people can't visualize. That's really what makes me come to work—the creativity and the enthusiasm of the customers. It's a great business to be in. Everybody's having babies. There's nothing better than that.
All of us feel a personal relationship with our customers. We get to know what they like and how they want their rooms to look, or what the inspiration is for their kids.
The best thing is when people come back for their second child. That's what makes it so much fun—the first time they came they loved the room, they loved the furniture, they loved everything about it. And they come back when they're pregnant with their second because they're so happy with us.
With Elavon, the customer service has been awesome. Our sales rep talked to us, made sure we were up and running, and that everything was all set. The company we were with before was basically an 800-number and you could never get anybody on the phone. When we went with Elavon, we just felt a sense of security. And for the past six years, they've given us that.
Elavon makes me feel very confident in running my business. They’re really my business partner.
